Monthly Comprehension Books

Our monthly close reading books each contain ten comprehension activities. The activities are about important historical events that occurred in that month or famous figures who were born or died. Each activity includes an informational text, comprehension and grammar questions, a crossword and a wordsearch.

"I used this as part of a tutoring session with a 5th grader. While there is a whole page of questions, I liked the nature of the questions that the students had to answer. The wording was just tricky enough that students had to really stop and think about what it was asking, but not so hard as to be discouraging ( I work with mainly resource students). It forces students to read carefully which is a skill that we're working on."
